Importing and Lighting in Unity

Becky’s Process:

scene without post processing

After importing the blender environment into Unity, I needed to figure out how to light the scene. I read a few of the tutorial resources that were posted on Canvas and watched some youtube tutorials on how to use the Unity Post Processing package.

Using post-processing package

I used the post processing package to light the Unity scene and everything started looking a lot better. I added Ambient Occlusion, Color Grading, Vignette, Bloom, and Grain , at low intensity.

Final Scene

Here’s what the final scene looked like before we implemented VR functionality to it!

Mar 26 Update

Becky’s progress:

I created 3D Cloud models to add to the environment.

I attempted to do vertex paint, but I couldn’t unwrap it properly… Instead, I created a texture in photoshop and imported it into blender to use for the cookie island.

I imported all the objects into the scene and tried to arrange them nicely on the island. I changed the lighting from Blender Render to Cycles.

Added sunlight and a spotlight to strengthen shadows. I also changed colours so the brown isn’t so concentrated in one area.

Views of the back with the pancake mountain and cotton candy forest & beach area with bonfire. I also changed some colours for the houses so it looks more varied.

My characters standing in the rendered environment!

Solange is working on rigging her characters for animation.

Sunny & Arsalan are working on the interactive component in Unity and Arsalan will also make it compatible for VR.

Jan 29 Update

After last week’s class, we started planning how to tackle and create the world of Dessert Island. Everyone was assigned different art assets to model in 3D so we could split up the work.

Solange and Becky are currently making models for the characters.

Becky started watching many tutorials in order to learn Blender since she’s new to 3D modelling.

Additionally, We are currently deciding on whether to use a shadeless or shaded visual style for our low poly artwork. We are also considering how to light objects/ scene but won’t get started on that until more 3D models are finished.
